Licenses & Authorities – we help you navigate the jungle
The charter approval in Spain can – depending on the flag, type of boat, and season – take from weeks up to several months.
We support you with everything typically needed for this: technical inspections, safety equipment, radio/programming, documents, and coordination with the respective authorities.
Important topics in Spain (Mallorca) that we check in advance
Registration Tax (Registration Fee)
For yachts in Spain, a registration tax of 12% may apply – depending on use (private/commercial), tax status/residence, and structure. For purely commercial use, under certain conditions, a suspension/exemption may be possible; for partial private use, there are also situations that must be clearly handled contractually and with proof.
Flag & Charter Approval
Depending on whether the boat is Spanish or, for example, German flagged, the processes, inspections, and time required differ.
Owner benefits (typical for "Own & Charter" models)
Depending on the agreement, a charter program can mean, among other things:
- Partially covering fixed costs (berth, insurance, maintenance)
- Professional care that supports condition and value preservation
- Transparent income sharing between owner and charter operator
- Personal use remains possible (in many models, fixed personal use days per year are agreed upon)
The specific model – duration, personal use, sharing, costs – is clearly defined in the contract.)
Which boats fit?
Basically, we are looking for boats that:
- are technically reliable and well maintained,
- are attractive for day charters (comfort, layout, range),
- and can be marketed in an economically sensible way.
